Free Classic Literature Study Guides for Homeschool Teens
“It is what you read when you don’t have to that
determines what you will be when you can’t help it.”
— Oscar Wilde
When the Youngest was in 10th grade, we joined a homeschool book club to get more immersed in classic literature. This was a great exercise because I read the books right along with him!Except for Scifi. I just can't.
Each month, moms took turns leading the student discussion. When I was next up to lead discussion, I created a study guide, using resources on the internet, and handed it out the meeting before. They were designed to help the kids as they read and to plan ahead for the book club meeting.
The study guide information was curated from several sites, many of which I listed below. Some of these sites are straightforward, designed for high school students; others such as Schmoop, caters more to the middle school age group, with more lighthearted language and teaching videos.
